AMD : Valve adjustments in your vehicle is done using shims, So depending on the clearance, if it's too high then a thicker shim will need to be installed to make the clearance smaller, if the clearance is too small or zero then a thinner shim will need to be installed to increase the clearance so in all cases shims will need to be used AMD : If the engine is making a ticking noise then most likely that the clearance is high and not low, therefore most likely thicker shims will need to be used, I cannot tell you exactly which shims are needed since they will vary depending on the current clearance, it will need to be measured. AMD : The valve clearance adjustments cost 3.4 hours of labor, so the actual dollar cost will vary based on the shop's hourly labor charge. AMD : If you leave it ticking not much is going to happen, you will not get the maximum fuel economy and performance out of the vehicle since the valves will not open all the way, but this is not something that you will easily notice. 0 elantra valve clearance AMD : I do recommened you adjust the valves but they are not of absoulute importance.
